Blingo - Another Search & Win Site

Blingo

Did not even realize I was registered with Blingo. This site is powered by Publishers Clearing House and gives away great prizes such as $5 - $100 Amazon gift cards, $5 Fandango movie tickets, Kindle readers, $500 cash, and more. I search through pchsearch.com regularly and have won two $5 Amazon gift cards since November 2008. Search at least once per day and gain an entry into their monthly drawing.

I always try to search at least once per day through a great search and win site. My favorite (and 1000's of other would agree) is Swagbucks. Earn 1 - 5 points for doing what you were going to do anyway. Become a fan on Facebook and friend on Twitter for access to codes to earn even more Swagbucks.

Why not get a little more out of your searches. Sign up for both. Earn and win free stuff!

Are Surveys Worth Your Time?

Sometimes. For instance, I was chosen for a focus group back in December which paid me $75 (gift card of my choice and I chose Amazon.com). This opportunity presented itself after I took a survey from Zoom Panel. That is the only focus group so far, but I have earned enough points through Zoom Panel to claim a reward. Nothing is a must have so I am waiting.

Now, I was taking quite a few surveys through MyView and not gaining any ground. Well, that is until a little over a week ago. I was going through my emails and almost missed something good. See, every time you take a survey you gain an entry into their monthly sweepstakes. I opened one and it said I was randomly selected as a potential grand prize winner in the February MyView Sweepstakes. Seriously? I sent them my name, address, and phone number; I had to give that information when I entered. I received a second email with some paperwork and a W-9. Now they want my social security number, so I had to get a second opinion. Who better than Wendy at Sweeties Sweeps? Wendy congratulated me and I felt comfortable finalizing the paperwork. Today I had $500 deposited in my paypal account. Completely unexpected.

Are surveys worth your time? Possibly. I would recommend signing up for one or two and seeing how it goes. They have proven to be worth my time, at least some of my time.

It Pays to Ask

I get so tired of watching the news. Rarely is there anything "new" to report and most of the stories are bland, uninteresting, and somewhat depressing. Last night a story actually caught my attention. Ever go to the grocer and find meat with the sell by date as that day or the next? Have you ever thought about asking for it to be marked for quick sale? My store is pretty good about catching these, but that is not always the case. The story talked about saving an average of 20% just by asking for the discount. You could do this on anything approaching its expiration date as the stores really do not want to lose a sale.

And why should you stop at the grocer. Ask about those open items on the shelves at Wal-mart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes. Of course they may only be willing if it is the last one available. You could also inquired on slightly damaged or "scratch and dent" items. It is worth a try. My theory is the worst they will say is no and you are no worse for wear. Check out my post about Lowes and how you can save 10% if you are military or former military.

Another question to ask is if the store price matches or accepts competitor coupons. I was able to earn, that is right - earn, $23.84 by doing just this. My mom needed a prescription filled which happened to cost 0nly $1.16. I happened to stop in at a Walgreens earlier in the week and picked up a flyer with a Grand Opening special on new or transferred prescriptions. Basically, with any new or transferred prescription you would get a $25 Walgreens gift card. My mom uses CVS. I had read that CVS accepts competitor coupons for prescriptions. She earned a $25 gift card just for doing what she was going to do anyway.

Here are some more stories that may be of interest:
